Police Inspector Ma (international superstar and Boston native Donnie Yen) is a good cop. From the moment FLASH POINT begins, we witness the ferocity Ma brings to his line of work: he quickly dispatches an apparently well-trained fighter without removing his work clothes or breaking a sweat! By his own candid explanation, it is simply his duty to catch thieves. When Ma's partner Inspector Wilson (Louis Koo) goes undercover to gather evidence against up-and-coming Vietnamese gangsters––led by the ambitious Archer Sin (Ray Lui) and enforced by his deadly brother Tony (Collin Chou)––this by-the-book police duo's skills are put to the ultimate test. The disintegration of their undercover operation marks only the beginning of trouble for the pair. Ma will have to use every ounce of his training and experience, as well as every fighting style he knows, to see his friend safely through this case––all while trying not to cross the line that separates cop from criminal.

Director Wilson Yip (KILLZONE) and producer/star Donnie Yen have created a modern Hong Kong kung fu classic in FLASH POINT. The integration of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) may once have been frowned upon in the genre; here it is truly and seamlessly embraced. The film incorporates multiple fighting styles that utilize everything from elbows and knees to wrestling, crippling submission holds, and fighting from a guard. The result is the creation of a much more realistic fight scene for a modern story space. (The fact that many of these punches were obviously landed in reality doesn't hurt either!) The final fight sequence is sure to be considered among the best ever to hit the big screen. Never before has a film captured the excitement of MMA, with all of its lip-splitting, cheek-rippling action. The marriage of this brutal and effective technique with such tense and compelling story is sure to have you shadowboxing in the aisles!
