LOVE! Mark, Maureen, Joanne, Roger, Mimi, Tom, Angel and Benjamin - eight bohemian friends are struggling to find their place in the world, living and working in the gritty 1989 environs of the East Village of New York City.

Based on the characters and storyline in Puccini's La Boheme, Rent quickly became a beloved work and overnight phenomenon when it hit Broadway in the mid-1990’s.

With filmmaker Mark as narrator, Rent explores relationships and fidelity, the impact of AIDS, and the tragedy of love and loss in the 525,600 minutes that make up a year.
