Smetana’s dramatic Piano Trio in g minor composed (1855) after the death of his daughter. Its style is close to that of Robert Schumann and the overall tone is elegiac. Mr Almond opens the concert with Schumann’s Sonata in d minor for Violin No. 2, Opus 121.

Also included on the program is the energetic Duo No. 2 in D Major for Violin & Violoncello by Bohuslav Martinu with Almond and cellist Debra Fayroian.

Milwaukee Symphony Concertmaster Frank Almond joins CMN Director Debra Fayroian and pianist Jeannie Yu in Bedrich Smetana’s dramatic Piano Trio in g minor composed (1855) after the death of his daughter.
