MGM 100 & The Golden Age of Hollywood Museum Visit

Showings

Hollywood Heritage Museum Sat, Apr 27 12:00 PM

Description

Join us for a private curator-led tour of the new Hollywood Heritage Museum exhibit, Meet the Stars: 100 Years of MGM Studios and the Golden Age of Hollywood, celebrating the centennial anniversary of MGM Studios. The Streamline Moderne architecture of the studio known for THE WIZARD OF OZ and silent era hits THE BIG PARADE and BEN-HUR (both 1925) will be examined along with the lives of the stars of the Art Deco era including Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard, Marion Davies, John Gilbert and others. A wine and nibbles reception will allow members to mingle and discuss their favorite exhibit discoveries.

It’s vintage Hollywood overload at the Hollywood Heritage Museum with over 20 Costumes, jewelry, contracts, personal items (John Gilbert's Russian dagger, Jean Harlow’s Art Deco cigarette box, Mae West and Carole Lombard’s jewelry, hats and more!), marketing materials, gorgeous original posters, artwork, oodles of rare photos and more - bringing the stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood to life. Meet everyone from silent film heart throbs to MGM's leading dancers in its lavish musicals.

The exhibition culls from the private collections of over 20 motion picture memorabilia collectors to exhibit artifacts of the Golden Age of Hollywood - many items unseen for decades!

Our visit will include a “then” and “now” exhibition of the Streamline Moderne architecture of MGM Studios, a special private tour of the exhibit with the curators Angie Schneider and Darin Barnes and some of the historian/collectors (several who are ADSLA members!) and a wine and nibbles reception. Scheduled to appear with the exhibit are Costume Collector Greg Schreiner, Jean Harlow expert Darrell Rooney and Collectors/Historians Nicole and Nathan Marsak, plus more TBA.
