Description

May 30 - Friday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. - Scheduled to show on 35mm film - On sale for members 4/23; on sale for the general public, on 4/30 at 1 p.m.

What it is: From the pages of Mickey Spillane's hardboiled detective novels - Private investigator Mike Hammer picks up a frantic hitchhiker seemingly escaped from a psychiatric hospital. This chance encounter sends him down a rabbit hole full of international intrigue, high-powered gangsters, car bombs and a mysterious briefcase.

Why we're showing it: The last weekend in May is Noir Weekend, with two noir classics. Kiss Me Deadly is one of the darkest and most influential noirs of all time, with its briefcase MacGuffin referenced in films by John Frankenheimer, Alex Cox, Steven Spielberg and perhaps most famously by Quentin Tarantino in Pulp Fiction. Its nihihilistic tone also influenced French New Wave directors like Jean-Luc Goddard and Francois Truffaut.

If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with a sick individual, for the safety of others, please do not attend. Refunds are available for illnesses - please contact the Will Call office by phone or email.
