Description

Celebrate the launch of the 2016 Barrie Film Festival at our not-to-be-missed Opening Night Party! The festivities will start immediately at PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint, one of Barrie’s favourite hot spots, following the opening night film Angry Inuk.

Described by NOW Toronto as “activist cinema at its best”, Angry Inuk a powerful documentary about how Inuit are deeply affected by the anti-sealing movement. This film won this year’s Audience award at Hot Docs. We are honoured to have director Alethea Arnaquq-Baril and Aaju Peter – who are both featured in the film – travel from Iqaluit, Nunavut to Barrie for a post-film Q&A at Uptown Theatre.

After the screening head to PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint for the Opening Night Party where we’ll share clips and teasers for films you’ll see during our ten day run, great music from DJ Casey George and delicious food from PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint. Guests will receive one complimentary cocktail upon arrival.
