Description

World Premiere Screening: 10/15

“My Friend Mickey” chronicles the life of Hoosier Mickey Maurer, a Jewish American who grew up helping his father, a World War II veteran, in the family junkyard and became one of the most successful entrepreneurs and generous philanthropists in the Midwest. The film traces the arc of Jewish experience in Indiana from the last century through today’s challenging times. It covers Mickey’s education, family life and work, including his Secretary of Commerce under Gov. Mitch Daniels; while also recounting tales of Mickey’s adventure and artistry. Occasionally misunderstood and controversial, this is a man committed to exposing injustice, a man who has climbed life’s mountains (and literally climbed Mr. Kilimanjaro) and now helps others do the same. “My Friend Mickey” presents his full, unvarnished story for the first time.
