The show is styled as a fundraiser put on by the Little Sisters of Hoboken to raise money to bury sisters accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia. It won 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical in its original New York production.

The production of Nunsense is partnering with the St. Vincent de Paul chapter of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson to collect items for their food pantry. Items in great need include: non-perishable food items, especially canned meats, toiletries and children's snacks. Please considering bringing these items to the show and depositing them in the grocery basket located near the entrance to the Dow Arena Theater.
