OPENING EVENT
On the coast of Kenya, where deeply held traditional beliefs in curses and witchcraft are widespread, being born with a disability makes you susceptible to abuse, abandonment, or even death. In Kupenda, three tenacious young people impacted, respectively, by deafness, cerebral palsy and cognitive delays set out on an epic journey to climb the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, determined to prove to the world — and to themselves — that they are as capable as anyone.
Followed by conversation with Cynthia Bauer (Co-founder & Executive Director of Kupenda For the Children) Director Philip Knowlton and Julia Spruance of Waypoint Adventure.
