Description

David Michael Garry (THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, CAROUSEL, THE LAST SHIP) will conduct this master class for aspiring vocalists and lifelong singers high school age and up on Sunday, July 18 from 9am to 11am at the Iowa Theater. Cost is $100.00 per student and is limited to ten participants. Those interested in observing/watching the class may do so for $25.00 and may purchase observation tickets by clicking here.

This class will cover every aspect of vocal audition - from how to enter an audition space, to specific vocal techniques, to performance during auditions. This two-hour class is geared to help young performers book jobs, get into colleges and conservatories, and do well in vocal competition.

Garry is a warm, down-to-earth, artistically nurturing, bass-baritone, ready, willing and able to answer questions about what it's like to work your way up from off-off-Broadway, to off-Broadway, to Broadway and beyond! During his career he has had the good fortune to work on stage with artists including Sting, Robert De Niro, Renee Fleming, Norm Lewis, and Sierra Boggess. David can also be seen on network and cable television series including "Person of Interest", "Jessica Jones", "Godfather of Harlem" and "Dickinson". Garry is a faculty member at The Institute for American Musical Theatre (IAMT) in New York and has over twenty years experience auditioning for Broadway roles and vocal work. He teaches Audition Techniques weekly at IAMT.

This master class will be accompanied by pianist Sonya Siebert, a staff accompanist at Drake University who has performed with numerous Broadway shows including WICKED and BILLY ELLIOT.
