Thirteen-year-old Joana is curious about why her great-aunt died at 70 without ever having had a romantic relationship. As she confronts the values of her community in pious southern Brazil, Joana realizes that all the women in her family have a secret, while something hidden inside her also reveals. Joana is not satisfied with the answers the adults give to her questions, so she creates an imaginary universe that helps her to elaborate her own answers. Award-winning director and co-writer Cristiane Oliveira gives us a sensitive and frank exploration of hidden loves and changing views of gender roles and sexuality. ~Orly Yadin
