What it is: An off-duty NYC police officer visting his estranged wife in LA at her office's Christmas party finds himself embroiled in a terrorist hostage plot.
Why we're showing it: A left-field choice for 'favorite Christmas movie ever,' Die Hard is both a Christmas and action movie classic. Bruce Willis's portrayal of the hard-boiled police detective John McClane made him a star, and the film constructed a template for action movies that continues to this day.
