Description

January 20 and 21 - Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. both days. The Book Club event is Friday at 6:15 p.m.

What it is: In the far future of 2019, a retired police officer is brought back to hunt down four rogue "replicants," android workers almost indistinguishable from humans. Based on the Philip K. Dick novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Why we're showing it: Blade Runner is one of the greatest science-fiction films of all time. Combining classic noir stylings with a deeply realized future world, it changed the way that sci-fi looked and felt, influencing future genres and creating a new visual vocabulary for science fiction filmmaking.

But wait, there's more: The Artcraft Book Club meeting will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, in the Artcraft cottage at 49 E Madison Street. Presented in partnership with the Wild Geese Bookshop (just across the street from the cottage), the Artcraft Book Club explores the relationship between the written word and cinema, connecting adapted films with their source material. To attend, purchase the Friday, 6:15 p.m. ticket (which includes entry to the film). Attendance is limited to 15 people. FHI members can reserve up to 2 complimentary tickets. Books may be purchased in advance from the Wild Geese Bookshop - book purchase is not required to attend. The Book Club will include in-depth discussions including plot points, so please be aware if you have not yet seen the film or read the book.

- Tickets on sale for members 11/23 between 11am and noon; for the general public, on 11/30.

If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with a sick individual, for the safety of others, please do not attend. Refunds are available for illnesses - please contact the Will Call office by phone or email.

Effective June 1, the Artcraft is instituting a 3.25% fee on credit card orders to cover the cost of credit card company fees.
