August 11 and 12 - Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. both days., with a special 'participation-encouraged' show at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Scheduled to show on 35mm film.
What it is: In the 1960s, at an upscale Catskills vacation resort, a young woman (Jennifer Grey) falls in love with one of the staff (Patrick Swayze). Their budding romance, fueled by a shared love of dance, cuts across class lines and angers her father.
Why we're showing it: Dirty Dancing is a fan-favorite at the Artcraft Theatre, and is as delightful now as when it first became a phenomenon in 1987. With its iconic soundtrack and dance numbers, it has one of the great film romances, with particular chemistry between stars Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
But wait, there's more: The special 10 p.m. show is participation encouraged - dance along and shout out your favorite quotes. There will a costume contest, and the first 200 through the door get a goody bag. Tickets are $10 for this special showtime.
