Take a wild ride into this program of animated shorts ranging from true confessions to the surreal, with adventures of possessed sock puppets, an amateur videographer at a wedding from hell, and the enduring quest for truth and meaning. After acquiring a new video camera, Beryl becomes obsessed with filmmaking, using it to articulate her dreams & desires in a video diary with disastrous and hilarious consequences in Dreams and Desires - Family Ties (Joanna Quinn, Wales 2006, 10 min.) Don Hertzfeldt's Everything Will Be Ok (USA 2006, 17 min.) is a series of dark and troubling events forces Bill to reckon with the meaning of his life - or lack thereof. Live action is combined with found objects to create a dark story of romance and psychological tension in Film Noir (Osbert Parker, UK 2006, 4 min.) In the sequel to the Oscar-nominated short 'Guard Dog,' Bill Plympton's Guide Dog (USA 2006 6 min.) has our hero dog helping the blind…with typical disastrous results. In Hallucii, (Goo-Shun Wang, USA 2006 4 min.) a drunken man wakes up, finding himself trapped in an endless-looping staircase. He tries hard to escape, but the truth is another nightmare... Lesley Barnes' Herzog and the Monsters (Scotland 2006, 4 min.) is a short story about Herzog, his Gran, some stolen letters and a forest full of monsters... For his entire life, a man has waited outside a closed door. What lies behind it? The truth? Or simply another door opening onto many more doors? Find out in The Man Who Waited (Theodore Ushev, USA 2006, 8 min.) During a performance of the Luna Carnavalera the 'mexican cloud swing' girl is hurt. Is this a part of the act or not? The Mexican Cloud Swing Disaster (Tom Schroeder, USA 2006, 5 min.) is an improvised, method-animated gag-film created to original music composed by Erik Fratzke. Four people tell their separate stories of their first time in Never Like the First Time! (Jonas Odell, Sweden, 15 min.) Visualized in a range of different animation scenes ranging from comedy to tragedy, these stories evoke feelings of embarrassment and nostalgia. After a famous rockstar dies during a concert, he finds himself in nirvana. There he faces his wishes and deeds in Our Man In Nirvana (Jan Koester, Germany 2005, 11 min.). Chel White's A Painful Glimpse Into My Writing Process (In Less Than 60 Seconds) (USA 2005, 2 min.) is a darkly satirical tour de force about the writing process with animated images straight from the subconscious, or somewhere... In Patrick Smith's Puppet, (USA 2006 7 min.) a young man fabricates a simple sock puppet, not knowing the abuse the entity will soon inflict upon it's creator. t.o.m. (Tom Brown, UK 2006, 3 min.) tells of the morning activities of a young schoolboy and his incredibly 'normal' journey that takes place at this time, everyday.
