In 2021, VTIFF hosted a work-in-progress of this film, the filmmakers soliciting feedback from our audience. Two years later, we’re proud to present the finished film after its premiere earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival.  All You Hear is Noise centers the stories of three people navigating life with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Trent Hampton, Melanie Holmes, and Chris Wines travel to the United Arab Emirates to compete in the Special Olympics World Games, an inclusive and progressive environment for them to be in, but upon returning home are reminded of the struggles they face in their daily lives, including barriers to employment, relationships, and more. While the story is built around an athletic journey, the messaging of the film subverts the tropes (e.g. inspiration porn, supercrip, etc.) that dominate representation of people with I/DD in the media – especially in conjunction with storytelling around the Special Olympics. ~OY ***Followed by an in-person Q&A with the filmmakers and participants at both screenings*** ***Tuesday’s screening is a sensory-friendly presentation***
