ANNUAL MEETING & EARL CARROLL RESTORATION UPDATE

Our annual meeting is a time to gather for an update on ADSLA’s achievements in 2023 and a preview of what the new year will bring. Following a 30 minute meeting with ADSLA’s board of directors, we will offer a presentation on the impending restoration of the exterior of the Earl Carroll Theatre by Paul Greenstein, neon restoration specialist, historian, and bum vivant and Dydia DeLyser, neon historian and Professor of Geography, California State University Fullerton More program details below!

This is a virtual event on Zoom and is free to current Art Deco Society of Los Angeles members. The presentation will begin immediately following the business meeting.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

Missing for over 50 years, the glamorous neon portrait of Beryl Wallace will be restored to the Hollywood landscape as part of the Cultural Heritage Commission-approved restoration plan for the Earl Carroll Theatre. Join us for an insider account, by neon restoration specialist and historian Paul Greenstein and neon historian Dydia DeLyser, of the history, importance, and current status of this iconic night-club exterior restoration.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS

Paul Greenstein is a neon restoration specialist, historian, and bum vivant.

Dydia DeLyser is a neon historian and Professor of Geography, California State University Fullerton

On January 4, 2024, the Cultural Heritage Commission approved the exterior restoration plan, following much consultation with  a working group of preservation organizations (including ADSLA) which began meeting in 2015.
