Description

June 7 and 8 - Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. both days. - Scheduled to show on 35mm film - Onsale for members 5/1 at 1 p.m.; for the general public, 5/8 on  at 1 p.m.

What it is: In 1970s New York, a crew of identically dressed men takeover a subway car, demanding one million dollars in ransom. The New York City Transit Police, led by Lt. Garber, have to resolve the hostage crisis all while the train car careens through New York's subway system.

Why we're showing it: A taut, tense thriller set amidst the gritty decay of 1970s New York City, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three is a great crime thriller which influenced many later films (most notably with Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs). It also features standout performances from Walter Mathau and Robert Shaw, with one of the best closing shots in movie history.

But wait, there's more: The Artcraft Book Club will meet at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, in the Artcraft cottage just around the corner from The Willard, to discuss the book and its film adaptation. A ticket to the book club includes entry to the Friday night film. We recommend getting a book from our partners at The Wild Geese Bookshop or from your local branch of the Johnson County Public Library.

If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with a sick individual, for the safety of others, please do not attend. Refunds are available for illnesses - please contact the Will Call office by phone or email.

Effective June 1 2022, the Artcraft is instituting a 3.25% fee on credit card orders to cover the cost of credit card company fees.
