In this workshop, scouts will put their minds to the challenge of building a working crane and by the end of the program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Crane Badge.

In this workshop, scouts will get the opportunity to put their minds to the engineering challenge of building a model car. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Model Car Badge.

Feb. 15, 2026 - Cub Scouts Super Science Adventure 1-3PM "Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue or how gravity works or what makes a rainbow? Scientists wonder about those things, too. Join us in the lab to learn about how scientists make observations and conduct experiments. Bear Cub Scouts will complete the Super Science Adventure, and all Cub Scouts are welcome to attend.

Brownies will earn the Home Scientist badge.

April 12, 2026 - Junior/Cadette Fun with Forensics 1-3:30PM Use your investigative mind to take on the many roles of a special agent: detective, scientist, psychologist, enforcer of the law. When you've earned this badge, you'll know how to follow clues and discover facts like a real detective. You'll know secrets from the worlds of forensic science and criminal psychology. Juniors will earn the Detective Badge, and Cadettes will earn the Special Agent badge.

In this workshop, scouts will learn about this principle, as well as learn about the engineering behind cars. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Balloon Car Badge.

When you've earned this badge, you'll know how programmers write programs that make computers work and how people can use computers to help others. May 17, 2026 - Daisy Mechanical Engineering: Roller Coaster Design 1-2:20PM Weeeee! Roller Coasters are a favorite of most at amusement parks. They are also a great feat of engineering. In this workshop, scouts will put their engineering skills to the challenge of building their very own roller coaster. At the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Roller Coaster Badge.

Description

Calling all Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Cubs! Whitaker Center offers exciting, hands-on Scout Workshops designed to help participants earn badges while exploring science, technology, engineering, and more. From robotics and coding to engineering challenges and design thinking, each workshop is tailored to meet badge requirements in a fun and interactive way. Scouts can register with their troop or as individuals, and every participant will leave with their earned badge(s) to proudly add to their vest or sash.

Please Note: Science Center exploration before your workshop is NOT included in the price of your workshop.  You can purchase a discounted Science Center and/or Digital Cinema ticket(s) for the day of the workshop at our box office when you arrive. 


Tickets are $18 per scout for workshops earning one badge and  $35 per scout for workshops earning three badges. Workshops are not refundable.  


Each troop represented should have at least  one adult accompanying their scout(s). There is no charge for the adult assisting the troop.

Please note:  Programs require a minimum number of participants. If minimum enrollment is not met, we will notify participants two days before the scheduled date that the program is canceled.
