Construction up ahead! Cranes are often something we think of as a building tool, but the engineering of cranes can actually be very complex. In this workshop, scouts will put their minds to the challenge of building a working crane and by the end of the program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Crane Badge.

Sun, Feb 9 1:00 PM
Engineers help the world as we know it to function. They design all sorts of things to help make life easier. Planes, trains, prosthetics, and even cell phones, were first designed by engineers. In this workshop, scouts will try several challenges that encourage them to put their engineering skills to test. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Think Like an Engineer Badge.

“Are we there yet?” Cars help us get places and are a great feat of engineering. Each design is equipped for different challenges. Some are fast, some are durable. In this workshop, scouts will get the opportunity to put their minds to the engineering challenge of building a model car. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Model Car Badge.

Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue or how gravity works or what makes a rainbow? Scientists wonder about those things, too. Join us in the lab to learn about how scientist make observations and conduct experiments.
Bear Cub Scouts will complete the Super Science Adventure, and all Cub Scouts are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please contact education@whitakercenter.org

Robots are becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. Romba’s and doordash robots. This workshop will focus on building, programming, designing, and showcasing robots. By the end of this workshop, scouts will earn all three robotics badges.
Includes 30 min lunch break, lunch not provided

Some of your favorite building toys are probably modular. Learning to build using modular design is a good way to conserve resources. In this Adventure, you will gain an understanding of modular design, build using modular-based materials, and practice making directions for others to follow. Webelos will complete the Modular Design Adventure, and all Cub Scouts are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please contact education@whitakercenter.org
