October 17 and 18 - Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. both evenings. Onsale for members 9/3; for the general public, on 9/10 at 1 p.m.
What it is: Fifteen years after being institutionalized for a murder committed as a child on Halloween, Michael Myers escapes from an asylum to return home to Haddonfield, Illinois. Pursued by his psychiatrist, Myers sets his sights on a teen babysitter named Laurie Strode.
Why we're showing it: One of the most iconic horror films of all time, Halloween spawned a franchise and kickstarted the slasher boom of the 1980s. The memorable performance from Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode launched her career, while writer/director/musician John Carpenter's film score became a cultural phenomenon.
