The Fil Lorenz Orchestra is a high-voltage, crowd-pleasing large ensemble born of the blues, with a sound defined by a searing, relentless horn section and an exhilarating, sometimes challenging repertoire of well-known burners and fascinating originals alike. To put it simply, the FLO can turn any club or festival performance into jazz/blues/bop celebration.

Saxophonist/arranger Fil Lorenz has assembled a musical cast of the highest standard, bringing some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s most accomplished and adventurous jazz veterans together with some of the fertile San Francisco scene’s most promising up-and-coming players.

Some say vocalist Jonathan Poretz was born with a microphone in his hand.

That would explain why Pacific Coast Jazz recording artist Jonathan Poretz is so comfortable performing his brand of great American jazz standards to audiences large and small. Whether appearing in an intimate club or a large outdoor venue, Jonathan brings an electric energy to any stage he’s on, a talent he’s been cultivating since his early teens, when he sang professionally in bands that featured jazz greats including Charlie Shavers, Snooky Young, Chuck Wayne and Joe Puma in his home town of New York City.
