A research team finds a mysterious cylinder in a deserted church. If opened, it could mean the end of the world. John Carpenter's 1987 film was his first made under a deal with production company Alive Pictures, which gave him just $3 million per movie but complete creative control. The result is a fascinating blend of religious horror as interrogated through a scientific lens, starring Donald Pleasance (HALLOWEEN) as a Catholic priest who joins forces with quantum physicist Victor Wong (BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA) to ward of the arrival of a Satanic “Anti-God” and the end of the world.
