Fourteen years ago, Eugene O'Neill Foundation Artistic Director Eric Fraisher Hayes directed a production of The Lion in Winter at the Village Theatre in downtown Danville. He cast actor Mark Jordan in the role of Henry II, the patriarch of the House of Plantagenet. Over the years, Eric learned about Mark Jordan’s penchant for creating lively and scholarly presentations and asked him if he would consider putting together a program on the real-life Henry II’s influence on Ireland.
“Through my many trips to Ireland I learned of Henry Plantagenet’s important role in the history of Ireland,” says Hayes. “I thought it would be interesting to have the actor I cast as Henry many years ago create a talk on what the real Henry did in Ireland. Happy to say, Mark said yes.”
The Walnut Creek Library Foundation is proud to welcome Eric and Mark to the Oak View Room for this special presentation.
